How does Casual Kitchen work?

Casual Kitchen prepares gourmet meals from scratch using the best ingredients we can source for the purpose. We then freeze the meals and deliver them to you. All of our meals are served in recyclable foil dishes that are MICROWAVE AND OVEN SAFE! This makes for quick defrosting and super easy heating and eating whenever you're ready.

Is there a minimum order?

In order to keep our packaging and delivery fees sustainable and efficient we have a minimum unit order of 4 items. It definately makes sense to order more and we'll give you free delivery with orders over $200!

Is Casual Kitchen a subscription service?

Not yet! We know that having a weekly subscription to our meals would be super handy for a lot of people so we’re working on it. Keep an eye out for our subscription service!

When will my meals be delivered?

Order before 12pm for next day delivery. (Orders placed after 12pm Thursday will be delivered the following Tuesday)

Where do you deliver?

We're now delivering North Island wide!

Unfortunately we can't deliver to rural addresses at this stage due to the longer delivery times, but don't worry, we're working on a solution for that.

How much do you charge for delivery?

We charge a flat rate of $15.50 for delivery North Island wide.

What if I’m not home to accept my delivery?

You don't need to be home to receive your meals. They'll be delivered in a chiller box with frozen gel pack so will stay frozen for 36 hours from dispatch.

How should I store the meals until I’m ready to eat them?

Store them in the freezer. The best before date on the box is 3 months from the date of packaging.

Should I defrost them before heating?

You don’t have to. If you want to defrost first, leave the meal in the fridge overnight so it doesn’t warm up too much.

It is safe to put a frozen meal straight in the microwave/oven. Just make sure the temp is not too high as you run the risk of burning the outside while the inside is still frozen. Approx temp for a frozen meal may be 150C.

How do I heat the meals up?

All our foil containers are microwave safe, oven safe and BBQ safe!!

Microwave – take the paper lid off, cover with microwave proof lid/cling wrap, cook on high for 10 mins or until hot.

Oven – pre-heat oven to 160C, take the paper lid off, cook for 10 mins or until hot.

How many people does each size feed?

The 1-2 serving size feeds 1-2 people! The 2-4 serving size feeds 2-4 people! It all depends on how much you eat and if you're preparing sides to go with your meal.

What should I do with the packaging?

The foil containers are recyclable so pop them in your recycle bin. The cardboard boxes are recyclable too or great to reuse for those old photo albums! The wool liners are perfect mats for worm farms and are also home compostable. Just remember to remove the outer layer first. If you find another useful way of using these, please be sure to let us know!

Do you cater for specific dietary requirements?

We have allergen friendly options such as gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan. We also have a keto section of our menu. We’re always working on our menu and have more ideas and menu’s coming.
Please note, we do our best to keep allergens separate however everything is cooked in the same kitchen so we can't guarantee small contaminations. Please bear this in mind when purchasing, especially our gluten free products if they're for someone with coeliac disease.
